Today I am so grateful for the abundance in my life.
The abundance of choice.
The abundance of opportunity.
The abundance of water, warmth, and food.
The abundance of love, friendship, and good people.
The abundance of joy—and knowing most any problem in my life can be minimized by remembering how much I have to be grateful for.
I saw an image today which asked the viewer to “Define Necessity” and contrasted starving children reaching for food with consumers clutching cartloads of toys. It was a startling comparison—one which made its point. I only wish we could hold the awareness of those in need when our “first world need” holds us in its grips. After all, there is really so little that “I need” and so many in true need. So I close this grateful heart with the question: how can we best share our abundance?
